The Mindful Body: Ellen Langer
She talks about paying attention, noticing differences, and questioning the assumptions we make about our bodies, health, and what we consider fixed. Her central argument is that the mind and body are not separate systems, and that the way we interpret an experience can influence how we respond to it.
That makes sense when you think about it. The way someone interprets a topic depends partly on how it is communicated. A complex subject should not be made to sound simpler than it is; instead, communication should make its complexity easier to approach.
It should give people enough structure to understand the situation while leaving room for the fact that their context may differ from someone else’s.
